Established in 2004, PACE Academy is a tuition free, public charter school serving students in grades 9-12.  PACE fosters the academic and personal success of adolescents through innovative teaching methods and solid community relationships.

In August 2010, PACE Academy moved from its Chapel Hill site to a significantly larger facility in Carrboro, NC.  PACE's expansion affords greater opportunities for vocational training, professional skill development, and course offerings.

A Charter School is a school of choice – your choice.  Charter schools are public schools, tuition free, independently operated and open to any student living in North Carolina. 

Enrollment includes an application and lottery process.  In return for independent operation, PACE Academy – like any other charter school - is held accountable for academic results and fiscal practices to the students, parents, communities and the State of North Carolina.

Partnership Achieving Community Education, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, was established in 2002 as a requirement for submitting a charter school application. 

PACE, Inc. submitted a proposal to the State of North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in 2003 to open PACE Academy.  PACE was granted a ten-year, renewable charter in 2004.
